Pumpkin and Poppy Color Face Products w/ Swatches

When I did my eyeshadow collection, I said that I would do a face products collection, and here it is! I am giving my face a break from makeup this week, because it's a little angry with me at the moment. I am thinking mostly from stress and that horrid time of the month is approaching. Just letting you know that's why you haven't see a FOTD this week.

All the face products that I have purchased from Pumpkin and Poppy have been things that I have used regularly since I got them. Since Veggie Beauty herself is quite fair, she has a knack for making products that work well with porcelain skin tones in addition to darker skin tones.

Oak Bark is a semi-sheer, cool toned taupe. It never makes me look orange or muddy, and provides a very nice contour on my fair skin. It can be applied lightly for a subtle contour, and it is also very easily built up for a more dramatic look. This product is $8.50 for a 20 gram jar.

Debutante Cream Blush is a beige champagne that can be used as a highlighter or a blush, depending on your skin tone. On my fair skin, this is a very natural blush that gives a beautiful finish to the skin. This product is eye and lip safe so, it can be used as a cream shadow and a lip color as well. This is a beautiful, versatile product. Until Veggie Beauty can restock the mica that she used to create this product from her supplier, it will only be sold with the entire I Put a Spell on You collection, but I believe she is making this a permanent item. It will go back to being sold individually when she gets the mica shipment in.

Cave of Wonders is a cool toned taupe/beige that can be used for highlighting or bronzing depending on our skin tone. I love taking this on a fluffy powder brush and using it lightly all over for a beautiful glow. I also mix a bit of this in with my Oil Absorbing mineral veil from Pumpkin and Poppy and use it to set my makeup. It never looks orange on me, and also makes a great bronzer. It costs $9.00 for a 20 gram jar.

Those are all my lovely color face products from Pumpkin and Poppy so far. I did not include the Oil absorbing mineral veil in this, because it's not something that I can really swatch. However, I do highly recommend that product. It costs $10.25 for a 30 gram jar. It's fantastic.

I hope you enjoyed! Have a fantastic rest of your week!

OCC Lip Tar in Lydia

OCC recently came out with a fall line of lip tars. I have never had a lip tar before, but I have been wanting one for a long time. When I saw the new colors, I knew that I had to have Lydia. It's a GORGEOUS plum color that's is just perfect for fall. I will do some FOTD posts wearing this color in the near future so that you can see it on the lips. You can find OCC lip tars at sephora.com and occmakeup.com. They are $16.

Ten Things I Would Repurchase

This tag has been going around Youtube quite a lot lately. I have really been enjoying watching the videos and thinking about what ten items I will repurchase once I am done with them. You will notice that I am listing a mascara or concealer, and that's because I have not found any that I would repurchase.

  1.  Urban Decay Primer Potion- This has been the best primer that I have tried so far. I really like the ELF Mineral Eye Primer, too however, it doesn't help with fading as much as the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

2.  Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette- This palette is ideal for me. It's cool toned, contains purple shadows, has a good mix of matte and shimmery colors, and has a good mix of light, medium, and dark colors.

3.  Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil- This pencil is FANTASTIC. It's creamy, doesn't smudge, lasts on my waterline, and it's very pigmented. I think this is the most versatile liner in my collection, and I will continue to repurchase it.

4.  ELF Mineral Infused Face Primer- This is a great primer for dry skin, and it's super inexpensive. I can't get by without a primer, especially in the winter.

5.  100% Pure Healthy Skin Foundation with Super Fruits- This is an AWESOME foundation. It provides amazing coverage and doesn't contain a lot of nasty ingredients. I've done an entire review of this if you want to check that out.

6. Pumpkin and Poppy Debutante Cream Blush- This is an extremely versatile product. It is eye and lip safe so, it can be used as a blush or highlighter (depending on your skin tone), a lip color, AND a cream eyeshadow. On my fair skin, this is a very natural blush color, and it gives a beautiful finish.

7. Pumpkin and Poppy Oak Bark Contouring Powder- This product has changed my makeup routine. It is a beautiful, cool toned powder that provides a very subtle contour. It can also be built up for more drama.

8. Pumpkin and Poppy Oil Absorbing Mineral Veil- This product just does a really amazing job of setting my makeup without making me look cakey. It gives a very beautiful finish, and I usually mix a little of the next product I am going to mention in with it/ This combination gives a very healthy finish that does wonders for my dry skin.

9. Pumpkin and Poppy Cave of Wonders Inner Glow Powder- This product is something like a MSF from MAC. You can use it as a bronzer, lightly dust it all over for a beautiful glow, or mix it with your setting powder like I do.

10. ELF Mineral Revitalizing Mist- I use this as a setting spray after I am done with my makeup. This takes away any powdery look that may occur and makes everything look more blended together.

So, those are the top ten things I would repurchase. I tag CosmeticCouturier, Daniellovesglitter, and LoolaLoves.

I hope everyone is having a good Monday. Enjoy the rest of your week!
Leave me your top ten products in the comments or leave me a link to your blog post or Youtube video. I'd love to see them!

I thought you all might like to meet my assistant, Xena. She's usually hanging out with me when I'm taking photos.

Tag: This or That?

I'm doing this completely out of boredom.

Blush or Bronzer?
Before I found my HG contour powder, this would have been an easy one for me. I would have said blush without any hesitation, because I had not found a bronzer that worked for my pale skin. I think I'm going to have to say that I would choose a blush. I would choose something like Mellow Mauve from ELF that can be used as both a blush and and contour shade.
Lipgloss or Lipstick?
Lipgloss. My lips tend to get really dry and gross looking, and a lip gloss does a better job of hiding that.
Sparkle or Matte Eye Shadow?
Sparkle! Sparkle eye shadows typically blend more easily, and I don't like the powdery look mattes can have on the eye.
Gel, Liquid, Cream, or Pencil Eyeliner?
Pencil! I am not very good at eyeliner, and I find pencils to be the best for me. Nothing screws up your makeup quite like smearing liquid eyeliner everywhere. Plus, pencils are more versatile in my opinion.
Foundation or Concealer?
Concealer. I often put on concealer and then just some powder foundation on I days I feel like I can get away with it with my dry skin.
Liquid or Powder Foundation?
Liquid. While I prefer the feel of a powder foundation, I can't always wear one. I have dry skin, and powder foundations stick to dry patches. Liquid foundation makes my skin look more healthy and doesn't make my dryness stand out.
Neutral or Statement Eyes?
Statement! I'm all about color, and I usually do a strong eye. Even when I wear neutrals, I tend to use them in a dramatic way.
Pressed or Loose Eye Shadows?
Loose. Most of my favorite eye shadows are my loose eye shadows. I am a stay at home mom, and I get ready when my little one is sleeping most of the time. I can usually take my time with my makeup.
Waterproof or Non-waterproof Mascara?
Waterproof. I hate smudging. Loathe it.
Brushes, Sponges, or Fingers?
This is hard for me. I use all of those on a daily basis. If I had to choose, I suppose I would pick brushes. I try to avoid using my fingers for powder products, and I don't think I would be able to stick my fingers in my eye shadows every day to apply them.

Powder, Cream, or Liquid Highlighter?
Cream! I love the way a quality cream product blends. I think cream products work best for dry skin in general.

This is a tag so, I tag anyone reading this to do it. Leave it in a comment below so, I can see it!

FOTD: Baby Shower =)

Today was my best friend's baby shower! I wanted to do something simple and not too over the top, because the shower was held at a church. Some might still consider this look too dramatic for a baby shower, but this is relatively tame for me. I used my Too Faced Romantic Eye palette, because I knew it would be easy for me to throw a look together with it.

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Primer Potion
Honey Moon (inner half of lid, inner half of lower lash line)
Ever After (outer corner, crease, outer half of lower lash line)
Bouquet toss (inner corner, under the brow)
Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Trio Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner for Blue Eyes (brown shade, upper lash line)

Face:
Bodyography Foundation Primer in Clear
100% liquid foundation in Creme
Pumpkin and Poppy cream blush in Debutante
Pumpkin and Poppy contouring powder in Oak Bark
Pumpkin and Poppy Inner Glow Powder in Cave of Wonders
Pumpkin and Poppy Oil Absorbing Mineral Veil

Lips:
Wet N' Wild lipstick in 547B

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

DISCLAIMER: If I have left a product out of the listings, it's because it's an item that is no longer considered cruelty free. I have some items in my collection that are not cruelty free any longer that I will not repurchase once they are used up, and I do not feel comfortable disclosing these products.

The All Natural Face: Purple Chrome and Fairy Mist

The All Natural Face is a vegan company that takes pride in providing customers with products that contain pure ingredients. This brand offers TONS of color options with all their products. I have been very happy with the products I have bought from The All Natural Face and look forward to expanding my collection. They also have amazing customer service.

Fairy Mist
Fairy mist is a mixture of grey, purple, gold, and violet. It's a very unique color and can be used to create many different looks. As you can see, these shadows come with a sifter, making things much less messy. This color has very good pigmentation, lasting power, and blends well.

Purple Chrome
Purple Chrome is a silvery  purple. This is a must have for purple lovers. It has great pigmentation, lasting power, and blends well.

Left: Purple Chrome; Right: Fairy Mist
Colors swatched with no primer and in natural day light.

I recommend everyone check out The All Natural Face. A five gram jar containing two grams of eye shadow costs $3.50. You can also get a ten gram jar that contains five grams of product for $6.50. Super affordable! They offer 51 shades of foundations and concealers! 51!

I hope everyone is having a great week. I added a follow button so, you can follow me now! Special thanks to LoolaLoves for helping me figure that out. Everyone should check her out. She has a youtube channel and a blog.

Pumpkin and Poppy Eye Shadow Collection with Swatches!

Pumpkin and Poppy has quickly become my favorite cosmetic brand. I was introduced to Pumpkin and Poppy when Grace (cosmeticcouturier) did a look using the Into The Labyrinth collection in spring of 2011. I was immediately intrigued, because the collection was based off of one of my all time favorite movies, Jim Henson's Labyrinth. We won't go into my obsession with this movie, but I HAD to have some of the colors from that collection.
For as long as I have been following VeggieBeauty (creator of Pumpkin and Poppy) and her cosmetic line, she has always asked for input from her customers. "What would you guys like to see?" She genuinely cares for her customers and values all opinions. If you follow her Facebook page, you will see that she involves us in so much of her work. It's truly wonderful, and I've come to think of her as a friend over the last year and a half. Another hugely important thing to me is that she is vegan and is dedicated to creating beautiful cosmetics without harming animals in any way. Her dedication to her veganism and her compassion for animals makes it very easy for me to trust that she will always be cruelty free. I will never have to worry about her selling out to China or doing anything else that would mean her products would cause an animal suffering.
At present, I have ten of her lovely eye shadows so, I will stop the mushy blabber and get on with the swatches.
 =D

I Put a Spell On You
The I Put a Spell On You collection is based on the film Hocus Pocus. This collection is one of two Halloween collections that have recently released this year.

Garden of Magic

Garden of Magic is a grey/purple/mauve with color shifting mica that shift from blue, to purple, and then to orange. This color makes a fantastic lid color as well as a great all over the lid color, as it adds dimension to the crease whilst brightening the lid. That's another awesome thing about Pumpkin and Poppy eye shadows, every shadow is so interesting and dimensional.

I Put a Spell On You

This is an emerald green with purple, copper, and emerald shimmer. I love using the color in the crease or all over the lid for a quick, interesting smokey look. this also pairs well with Garden of Magic.

Once Bitten
Once Bitten is the other Halloween collection that Pumpkin and Poppy has released this year. This collection is based on Interview with a Vampire. She took inspiration from both the book and the film, which I am very pleased with. I only have one of the items from this collection, but here it is! (Please excuse the messy state of this product. It's very hot where I live, and I was not aware that it had arrived. I have no idea how long it sat outside >.>)
Louis
This is a golden-olive cream shadow. I LOVE this. It does not crease, and makes a beautiful base color. I also like to wear it on my lid and just set it with a tiny bit of translucent powder.

Into the Labyrinth
This collection is based on Jim Henson's The Labyrinth, and was the first collection I purchased from. Luckily the colors I have have been made permanent so, you can still scoop them up!
Between the Stars

This is a metallic white-gold with gold holographic glitter. It makes a fantastic inner corner and brow bone highlight. I also think it would make a lovely lid color.

Furry Friend
This is a medium warm brown with orange duochrome and red/copper shimmer. I love using this color with golds and champagnes. It's also a good all over the lid color on days when I am in a hurry, but I still want to bring out my eye color.

Arabian Nights
This is a vibrant collection that is full or color and based on Disney's Aladdin. Again, I only have one color from this collection, but VeggieBeauty decided to make everything in the collection permanent. I definitely plan on getting more.

Three Wishes
This is an antiqued, coppery gold with copper shimmer. On days that I want to wear gold, this is the gold I wear. I love this color. It's great on when used just on the lid and also as an all over lid color.

Frankly Scarlet
This collection is based on Gone with the Wind. Not all of the colors in the collection are still available, but the color I have is. I believe there is one other from the collection still available.

Melanie
This is a dusty pink/silver/beige. I included this eye shadow in my July/August favorites. This color is probably the most versatile of all the colors I am mentioning. It can go well with so many different colors as well and can look so different depending on what colors you use it with. It also stands very well on it's own as an all over lid color.

Au Naturel Neutral Collection (and another permanent shade)
This collection is pretty self explanatory.  This line is permanently available and features many lovely, wearable shades. I also threw in another shadow that is a neutral and permanent.

Notre Dame
Notre Dame is a taupe brown with gold undertones. This color is supposed to be similar to satin taupe by MAC. This is a favorite crease color of mine. I have also used it all over the lid.

Riviera
This is a matte taupe. I get a TON of use out of this color. It was also in my July/August favorites. This pairs really with Melanie and is a staple in my collection.

In the Buff
This is a matte beige with a pearl sheen, and it's another staple in my collection. It pairs really well with warm browns and is also a great all over the lid color. I used this with Furry Friend in my last FOTD.

I hope you've not become bored by now. I plan on doing another post like this with all the Pumpkin and Poppy face products I have in the near future. I hope you all have a GREAT weekend.
