Tag: Green Beauty Characters

I was tagged by my love, Brianna from iluvjesse444. I guess I can now consider myself a green beauty since I haven't purchased a non natural makeup product in a year! I can't believe how far I have come on my journey. I decided to do this tag on my blog, because Brianna did and it seemed appropriate. I'M A FOLLOWER, OK!? Ahem.

1. On my nightstand you'll find: Shea butter and my dream journal. I use Shea butter as a hand cream and a lip balm at night. I started keeping a dream journal a few months ago when I posted on my Facebook about how odd many of my dreams are and the woman that was the librarian when I was in high school suggested I start keeping one. Brillaint idea, right? Love that woman.

2. The literary character I'm most like is (take this quiz to find your answer) : Hermione. Sweet!

3. I'm currently obsessed with: Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Words just can't describe...

4. Favorite superhero: Batman. I recently started getting into Batman comics, and I find them fascinating. The dynamic between Batman and all the villains is actually quite complex and interesting. He refuses to kill them so, it;s like they have an ongoing relationship with him.

5. Favorite Beauty Product of 2013: Ummm. Narrowing down just one product is very difficult. I think I'm going to have to go with my Brightening Scrub from 100% Pure. It's a very gentle exfoliant that leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturized.

6. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive? R.A. Salvatore. He is my favorite author.

7. Winter is coming. How do you prepare you skin for Battle? Oils and a good night cream. Lately, I have been loving jojoba oil and the Rainwater Botanicals Nourishing Facial Cream in Carrot and Pumpkin. It sinks really nicely into my skin and keeps my skin hydrated all night and into the next day.

8. My to to skin beautifying snack/drink is: TEA. ALL OF THE TEA. My favorites lately have been Jasmine Green Tea from Triple Leaf and Tazo Zen. My skin loves green tea, and I will squeeze the tea bag into the mix of my DIY face mask on the nights that I do those.

9. My TV boyfriend is: Sherlock from the BBC series. Benedict Cumberbatch. I am SO attracted to Sherlock it's probably a little insane.

10. If my evening clutch could only hold one beauty item it would be: Peyton lip tint from Brija. It's usually the only beauty item I bring with me on nights out.

11. One beauty tip I would pass on the my fictional (in my case, real) daugher: I'm going to have to go with Brianna on this one. Sunscreen.

12. The most nostalgic item from my childhood is: My NES. My dad, brother, and I used to play Super Mario Bros. 3 nearly every night when I was a kid. Those are some of my earliest memories. I could also say Xena, but she's not an item. She's been in my life for 18 years.

13. My favorite show of the moment: Adventure Time. I think that's all that needs to be said ;)

14. My favorite quote is:
"You know, I do believe in magic. I was born and raised in a magic time, in a magic town, among magicians. Oh, most everybody else didn’t realize we lived in that web of magic, connected by silver filaments of chance and circumstance. But I knew it all along. When I was twelve years old, the world was my magic lantern, and by its green spirit glow I saw the past, the present and into the future. You probably did too; you just don’t recall it. See, this is my opinion: we all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for God’s sake. And you know why we were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wildness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad of what they’d allowed to wither in themselves.
After you go so far away from it, though, you can’t really get it back. You can have seconds of it. Just seconds of knowing and remembering. When people get weepy at movies, it’s because in that dark theater the golden pool of magic is touched, just briefly. Then they come out into the hard sun of logic and reason again and it dries up, and they’re left feeling a little heartsad and not knowing why. When a song stirs a memory, when motes of dust turning in a shaft of light takes your attention from the world, when you listen to a train passing on a track at night in the distance and wonder where it might be going, you step beyond who you are and where you are. For the briefest of instants, you have stepped into the magic realm.
That’s what I believe." from Boy's Life by Robert McCammon

Updated Hair Care Routine for Tailbone Length Hair

Things have changed since I did my last hair care routine. I've made a huge switch to natural products, and my hair has gotten a little longer. I'm almost sitting on it, and I have to be careful it doesn't go into the toilet when I'm in the bathroom O_o
In any case, the products I use have changed so, I wanted to share with you what has been working for me! All these products are natural and cruelty free. I also think at least most of them are vegan :3
The shampoo I use now is from Sweet Creek Herbal Care. This etsy shop has SO many products with SO many different variants of each product. I use the Vegan Herbal Shampoo Soap in the unscented/apple cider vinegar option. This shampoo bar lathers really nicely, and has a very basic ingredient list. It's so hard to find shampoos without harmful ingredients that lather well, and when you have as much hair as I do, it makes it much easier to have a shampoo that lathers. I have had the same bar of shampoo for several months now, and I have well over half the bar left. I just get the bar wet and then rub it over my hair to distribute the product.
With most shampoo bars, you will need to use a vinegar rinse to restore the PH in your hair. I have just been using store brand apple cider vinegar, but when I have gone through that I will be getting an organic apple cider vinegar from Vitacost. After I've used my shampoo bar, I put a small amount in a plastic cup that I keep in the shower. I don't really measure this amount, because just had to figure out how much I need for my hair. If you use too much your hair might get a little stringy so, less is more. After rinsing out the vinegar, I towel dry my hair lightly and apply a small amount of argan oil from the ends of my hair towards the top. Right now I'm using one my mom gave me from Josie Maran, but when I get through that, I'm probably going to order an Aura Cacia one from Vitacost.
I have still been loving my Tangle Teaser. I run that through my hair and then wad my massive nest of hair up into a towel. The nights I wash my hair usually end up being the nights I apply lotions so, I do that and then by that time my hair is not wet enough to wet my shirt a wet, cold, freezing nightmare. =D
I think that's about it so, if you have any questions feel free to ask me =D

Brija Cosmetics Charmed Collection Review

My poor, neglected blog. Since I started uploading videos on YouTube every other day, I just have not had much motivation to write a blog post. I have so many ideas for videos and not many ideas for this blog. I also feel like my YouTube channel gets more attention which makes me, of course, want to pay it more attention. I never want to get to a point where I just don't post here anymore. After all, this is where I started.
I have been meaning to do a formal review of the Charmed collection for some time now. I got in a bit of a rut with doing nothing but "get ready with me videos." I've realized now that I need to balance out my channel a little and review the products I use. My camera has also recently decided to be rude and become difficult about taking photos. Luckily, I managed to get the swatches done before it started in with the shenanigans.
 Here we go.
The Charmed collection was Brija's first collection, and it's based on the TV show Charmed. (Gasp.) I have not seen this show in it's entirety, but my mom really enjoyed it, and I do plan on watching it eventually.  This collection comes with six one gram pigments that come in five gram jars. You can purchase the full collection for $27, or you can buy shadows individually for $5.
One thing I really love about Brija is that I know I don't have to worry about ingredients. Brianna, the owner of Brija, and I have the same standards for ingredients we use. It's nice to not have to check every single product I want to get to make sure that I am fine with what's in it.
I also really enjoy the quality of the shadows. They are pigmented, blend well, and last well. That's everything I need in an eyeshadow.
I suppose you want to know about the colors. I aim to please.

Kit- This color is a taupe lover's dream. It's a light gray taupe with a red duochrome, and I find it to be really versatile. I have used it all over my lid, in the crease, and as a lid color for darker looks. It also looks really nice on the lower lash line.

Manor- This is one of my favorite colors Brija has come out with thus far. It is a burgundy/brown with some different colors of shimmer throughout. It can look different depending on what you pair it with, and is really great for adding warmth to a look. It's never made me look ill, as some reds can tend to do. This is a really great addition to my rather large pigment collection.

Whitelighter- Oh. My. Glob. This is a must have color, because it's SO versatile. I love this for the inner corner, the lid, and as a face highlight. It's a very light yellow gold, and I find it to be very brightening.

Orb- This is another very unique color that I have really enjoyed. It's a periwinkle with purple and pink duochrome as well as a touch of teal. It's great for a pop of color on the lower lash line for all you lovely neutral loving gals, and can be used in many ways for those of you who like colorful looks.

Freeze- Freeze is a light, frosty blue. I like it for the lid and inner corner. I have also used it as a face highlight when doing a fantasy inspired look.

Premonition- Yet another super versatile shade. I love this for the lid, inner corner, and as a face highlight. It's very brightening and gives a lovely glow.

I really suggest everyone check out Brija Cosmetics. The ingredients are very clean, and the products come at a very reasonable price. I really have enjoyed watching Brija grow as a company, and I really think this is a great brand run by a fantastic person. I see so much potential for this company.
