Fall :)

Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons. I don't much care for summer since I'm so fair, and my eyes and skin are sensitive to the sun. In fact, my family and friends often refer to me as vampire. I am so very glad that Fall is right around the corner, and I was feeling inspired today by the cooler weather and some of Pumpkin and Poppy's pigments. I've had this look in my head for a couple of days and decided to see what it would look like once executed.

I am not much of a lip product person. I'm sure it's a little obvious that I'm usually an eyeshadow focused person, but I wanted to try to feature a brighter lip today since I feel like I neglect all my lippies. I also wanted to use my Too Faced palette again so, I was lame and did the day look. I hope everyone is having a good Monday.

FOTD: I Put a Spell on You

Today. I wanted to play with some of the things I recently bought from Pumpkin and Poppy so, I used a little of both of her Halloween collections that recently came out. I really love the way theses colors go together, and I have been enjoying what I have of the collections greatly. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Eyes:
Elf Mineral Eye Shadow Primer
Garden of Magic (lid)
I Put a Spell on You (crease)
Matte white in the Wet N' Wild I <3 Matte palette (inner corner, brow bone)
I used a purple liner that I had on hand that I have been trying to get rid of, because it is not cruelty free. I recommend using Witches Brew from the Pumpkin and Poppy I Put a Spell on You collection if you want to recreate this look.
Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara
Physician's Formula Organic Wear Mascara

Face:
Bodyography Foundation Primer in Clear
100% Pure Liquid Foundation in Creme
Pumpkin and Poppy Cosmetics cream blush in Debutante
Physician's Formula Healthy Wear Powder Foundation in Translucent/Light
Pumpkin and Poppy Cosmetics contouring powder in Oak Bark
Lips:
ELF Matte Lip Color in Natural (the colored part at the end of the pencils pulls out and have a sharpener if you don't like when they get dull)
Wet N' Wild lipstick in 547B
ELF Hypershine Gloss in Bare
DISCLAIMER: If I have left a product out of the listings, it's because it's an item that is no longer considered cruelty free. I have some items in my collection that are not cruelty free any longer that I will not repurchase once they are used up, and I do not feel comfortable disclosing these products.

Makeup Geek Eye Shadow Overview/Thrifty idea

I am a huge believer in organization. I am also a huge believer in saving money. I wanted to have a nice way to keep my pan eye shadows together without having to break the bank on a fancy empty palette. I found my solution in the ELF Elements custom eye palettes. I ordered five of these with an ELF order that I made a while back. They are a dollar a pop and come with a large mirror, a dual ended shadow/lip gloss applicator, and have four spaces to place eyeshadow pans. The only qualm I have is that the bottom of this palette is not magnetic, meaning I had to order a strip of magnet online and use that to keep the pans in place. I don't think it's a huge inconvenience, though, considering the palettes are only one dollar.

As far as the Makeup Geek shadows are concerned, I have four at present. These eyeshadows are the same size as a MAC shadow, (1.8 grams) and are available in just the pan for $5.99 or in a compact for $7.99. I bought just the pans since they are cheaper, and I had already bought the ELF palettes for such a purpose.
Top left: Fairy Tale; Top right: Purple Rain; Bottom left: Shimma Shimma; Bottom right: Moondust
Top to Bottom: Purple Rain, Fairy Tale, Moondust, Shimma Shimma
Of the four colors I have, two are matte(Purple Rain and Fairy Tale) and two are shimmery(Shimma Shimma and Moondust).  I have to say that the two shimmery shades perform much better swatched and on the eye than the matte ones do. Shimma Shimma and Moondust are both very pigmented, blend well, and have good staying power however, Purple Rain and Fairy Tale are less pigmented, don't blend as well, and faded considerably throughout the day. The matte shades perform better on the eye than swatched and were buildable, but I still was not too impressed with how they worked. Of the two matte shades, Fairy Tale had the best color pay off and held up better on the eye. Purple rain requires a lot of work to apply and blend and is not very pigmented. I had to really work with it to get a decent swatch of it to show the color. This is a real shame, because the colors are beautiful. I would very much like to see the formula of these shades improved.
I will say that the Shimma Shimma and Moondust perform very well. They both have great pigmentation, are easily blended, and I do not have any fading with these two shades. I also did not experience any fallout with any of these eye shadows, which is a huge plus for those of you who like to do your face makeup before you do your eye makeup. I recommend Shimma Shimma and Moondust to those of you who love versatile, neutral shadows. I really enjoy these two shades.
As for Purple Rain and Fairy Tale, I cannot recommend them. I don't necessarily think that the performance of these speaks for the rest of the matte shades, as it is difficult to find a really good matte purple shadow. I have seen great reviews on other matte shades from this brand. Makeup Geek offers a wide variety of colors, and I think there's a color there for everyone.

Review: Nuance Salma Hayek Walnut Facial Scrub

I bought this scrub when I decided to stop using my Clarisonic. I have extremely sensitive skin, and I think it was causing damage and increasing the redness around my cheeks and temples. I still need a scrub, because I have dry skin and if I don't exfoliate at least once a week, I get a lot of flaking which doesn't look pretty at all under makeup.
I heard of Salma Hayek products through CosmeticCouturier. I believe she was in search of some good cruelty free hair products at the time and spotted this line at CVS.
This scrub is gentle if used with a gentle touch and has not irritated my skin at all. It contains finely crushed walnut shells so, this is not a scrub that contains "beads" that dissolve as you cleanse. My skin does not feel stripped of moisture after use, nor does this leave a greasy feel to the skin.
I can detect the faint scent of walnut along with a perfume scent to the scrub. It's quite pleasant, and is not at all overwhelming. I can only smell it when it is my intention to do so.
This product retails for $7.99 at CVS and is 4 FL OZ of product. I use a tiny, tiny amount for my entire face and have used less than a fourth of the scrub during the 4 months or so that I've had it. I feel that this is a great scrub, and I recommend it to anyone in the market for one. It's a great value, as I'm sure it will last for months and months, and it does it's job well.

Review: Pumpkin and Poppy Lip Pencil in Marriane and Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Spring Haze

Funny Lip Shape is a collection based on Tori Amos. I have only purchased two items from Pumpkin and Poppy's Funny Lip Shape Collection thus far, but I can honestly say that they have been my most reached for lip products since I received them.
Marianne
This lip pencil is inspired by Tori Amos' song Marianne, which is about a childhood friend of Tori's who died as a young teenager from a tragic drug overdose. This color is described on Veggie Beauty's website as a mute, soft pink with cool undertones and a glossy finish. This is a great everyday color as it's versatile and looks beautiful on it's own. I did not find this pencil to be at all drying, and the staying power is outstanding, lasting between three and a half and four hours through talking, eating, and drinking. When the color does wear off, it leaves a nice, even stain that does not make the lips look dry. It also does not transfer once the color has had a moment to set, and is kiss approved by my beloved. This is an added bonus to those of us whose boyfriends/husbands don't enjoy sporting our chosen lip color for the day. ;) This pencil costs $8.00 and is worth every penny.

Spring Haze
This beautiful lip gloss is also based off of a Tori Amos song, in this case being Spring Haze. This color is described on Veggie Beauty's website as being a purple/pink gloss with fushia cosmetic glitter. As I'm sure you all have guessed by now purple is my favorite color so, I was very excited when Veggie Beauty announced on her Facebook page that she would be making a purple gloss. I LOVE this color. I have been known to wear a purple lip as often as I can, and this is a lovely addition to my purple collection. It also looks lovely over Marianne, and adding this gloss on top makes the last power of the lip pencil even better. The gloss itself lasted around three hours on me through eating, talking, and drinking and also leaves a very nice, even stain. The stain was more pink than purple on my lips. This lip gloss is very moisturizing, as the name suggests, and contains Vitamin E, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Shea Butter to nourish the lips. It costs $7.00 and is also worth every penny.
